Abstract

Background and Objectives: This study aims to analyze the content of elementary school textbooks—Heavenly Gifts and Quran—from the perspective of happiness and life satisfaction components. Methods: A quantitative content analysis approach was employed. The research population included all Quran and Heavenly Gifts textbooks used in grades one through six during the 2024–2025 academic year. No sampling was conducted; instead, the entire population was examined. Data collection was carried out using a checklist of happiness and life satisfaction components previously developed by Bagheri Sharifabadi (2024).The validity of the research instrument was reassessed through content validation by eight experts in educational sciences and three scholars in Islamic studies, yielding an average score of 9.68. Reliability was confirmed using William Scott’s method (2012), with a coefficient of 92.20%.

Sentences were used as the unit of analysis for texts, questions, and activities, while images were analyzed individually based on their alignment with happiness and life satisfaction components. Each textbook was organized into a table to record the presence or absence of the targeted components. Data analysis was conducted using Shannon entropy.Findings: The results revealed that the component “sharing smiles and laughter with others” received the highest level of emphasis, while “having a sense of humor with others” and “engaging in physical activities” were the least represented. Conclusion: The findings suggest that the components of happiness and life satisfaction are not addressed in a balanced manner across the textbooks
