Abstract

Background and Objectives: Artificial intelligence is a transformative tool in the field of education and art. The purpose of the present study is to investigate the role of artificial intelligence in creativity and art education. Methods: The method of the present study is descriptive-analytical and survey. Data collection was done using library and field resources. The sample size in the survey section was selected as fifteen student teachers in the field of art education and the analysis of their visual works was carried out with a qualitative approach based on theoretical saturation. In order to reduce bias and access a wider range of visual data that improves the validity of the research; the aforementioned students were asked to create images on the subject of Shahnameh stories using five models of advanced and productive artificial intelligence tools (Canva, Copilot, Jim Nye, Grok, and Chat GPT). Findings: The findings of the study show that images created with artificial intelligence, although they are an imitation of big data, are very unique and creative. Conclusion: Artificial intelligence can act as a creative assistant and intelligent teacher. The use of artificial intelligence in the field of art education stimulates the creativity of students and learners by providing generative software and facilitates the teaching-learning process by enhancing the artistic experience and improving the productions. However, an ethical approach, such as preserving the identity of artists and the authenticity of the artwork, is essential for the application of this technology in art education.
